I get the feeling from the comments from my readers make about my recipes, that I am winning the war against those who don't think that healthy eating can be delicious eating.
Now its time to go on the offensive, hit at the jugular vein of the enemy, and launch and attack on their most loyal troops….that is, those who love treats and sweets.
I say that no doubt, with the highest quality ingredients, even sweet treat treats like this 5 ingredient honey ice cream, will blow away those poor quality treats that the enemy army mass produces.
We got the "bad guys" on the run!!!!!!!!
The 5 Ingredient, Honey Cinnamon Ice Cream
(AVOID CONVENTIONAL DAIRY, OR THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF HEALTHY EATING IS DEFEATED)
* 2 plump, moist organic vanilla beans
* A few dashes of Ceylon Cinnamon (as opposed to the common, less nutritious rust colored Cassia Cinnamon we all know of, which is basically fake cinnamon, read more here)
* 2 cups quality grass fed heavy cream, such as Natural By Nature Heavy Cream
* 1 cup quality grass fed whole milk such as Natural By Nature Grass Fed Milk
* 1/2 cup real raw honey (plus a bit more for topping)
……And people, it would break my heart if you use cheap conventional honey, it would totally defeat the purpose of why I blog. Read here for list of fake honeys.
You have to look hard to find it, but my favorite honey is Manuka Honey, because it is pourable and has a distinctive rich deep taste
Directions
(Add 1 tsp of xantan gum if you do not have an ice cream maker, although that's from original recipe, I don't know too much about xantan gum except its from aged fermented sugars)
Cut the vanilla pods and scrape out the seeds, then add them to a pot along with cream, cinnamon, milk and honey. Heat carefully while constantly stirring. Bring to the boil (just!), then cover and let sit for an hour.
When it has cooled down you need to transfer it to the fridge where it needs to be left until it is absolutely cold. No cheating, as a really cold mixture is paramount to the result!
Once it’s cold you wanna sift it to remove the vanilla pods, then pour it into an ice cream maker. If you don’t have an ice cream maker you can use a suitable cooled tin. Take it out of the freezer after an hour to give it a good blend, and again after about 4 hours for the last blending.
Personally I like to pour a bit of extra honey over top before I serve it up. Yum. Plus, it gives a dose of unheated honey full of healthy enzymes.
A good fifth ingredients is a sprinkle of Ceylon Cinnamon, not as intense as more common Cassia Cinnamon but very nutritious, real honey combined with real cinnamon has amazing healing properties.
This ice cream is so ridiculously delicious it puts most others to shame. The gorgeous honey and cinnamon flavor on a blank vanilla canvas is just to die for
