When I look at the details, actor Michael B. Jordan’s so called “secrets” to getting to his now “Super Buffed” physique, are not really secrets from my point of view……
…..they’re just “basic stuff”.
The “secret” is to master doing them consistently, as pertains to eating, and intensely as pertains to exercise.
…and that’s a good thing, because it shows you don’t have to do anything dangerous or crazy to get in shape, i.e., steroids, performance enhancing drugs, or even over-hyped expensive protein powders with “mystery ingredients” from health food stores.
One unique thing Jordan did was called “Method Training”…..
Method training matches the training to what the character in the movie would do to get in shape. For example, “Creed” was a lot of boxing, whereas “Black Panther” was more martial arts and weapons training. He says that alleviates boredom of the same routine…
The only unrealistic thing for anyone wanting to “shadow” his routine [see the videos of his routine embedded below] is that he said when training for the first “Creed” movie, he worked out 3 times a day, six days a week…..
…for sure, no one is gonna do that, but a skinny kid in his teens or twenties (or a guy at any age) who wants to buff up and/or get in shape, can use Jordan’s general regiment as a good baseline.
If you don’t have time to look at the videos embedded below, below are some of Michel B. Jordan’s best quotes, taken from the videos below, on getting fit and his body transformation ……..
“Changing the diet was the first thing. Cutting out the sugar, breads, pasta, dairy, cheese….gone.”
“I try to get through a gallon and a half of water a day”
“My diet was mainly chicken, broccoli, brown rice, gallon and a half of water a day”
“Getting in shape is 80% Diet”
“I eat every 2-3 hours, 6-7 times a day….”
“As long as you have 3-4 meals that are super-clean, you can have that ‘cheat’ meal…..”
“My trainer allowed me to cheat on my diet one day a week. I had French toast in the morning, Philly Cheesesteaks in the afternoon, and Pizza……”
“I think that’s the misconception with diets and being healthy, in that you can’t eat what you want, just in moderation”
[when asked if he still boxes after “Creed”] :
“I’m kind of in a routine, I’m hooked , boxing is one of those things that gets you in great shape, you’re mentally focused and disciplined….and I just like it……”
My training [for the movie “Creed”] has been pretty intense. I do 3-4 days a week and weight trained every day for about 8 months straight, and eventually I started to see the results…..”
“I worked pretty hard [for “Black Panther”]. Ryan Coogler [director of both “Creed” and Black Panther”] set the bar pretty high for Black Panther”
“Black Panther was more martial arts training, weapons training, I wanted an intimidating physique since I was the villain. I added on another 15 pounds……”
[when asked “What’s the Secret”?] “There is no secret, just hard work and a lot of sacrifice…..”
“Once you change your diet, your body is eventually gonna start to change….”
“When you first start out , you’re hurting….” (his trainer said he initially couldn’t even bench 20 pounds)
“….but when you start bench pressing 225 pounds 10 times and it ain’t nothing, and then you start giving hugs to girls who are feeling you up a little, I learned to love working out”
“My dad used to tell me all the time I have to be serious about something…..”
