It's a "Guy Flick" thang for me tonight........
When us war movie buffs consider the Classic submarine movies of the past no doubt, "Das Boot" is second to none. We have a short list of second tier favorites, such a Robert Mitchum in "The Enemy Below" (actually, for a straight up 50's style Hollywood creation, very good flick), "Run Silent Run Deep", and for some of us, "The Hunt for Red October".
"Crimson Tide", starring Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman, deserves a spot in these "Best of the Rest" of Submarine Movies, I'm sure it will be considered a "classic" thirty years down the road.
A series of events in Russia push the world to the brink of nuclear war....our guy's submarine communications are crippled, how do they now if their last order to launch nuclear missiles is still valid?
Let me make myself a hearty, healthy sub, and see how this turns out.....

A few pointers for making a healthier sub
** AVOID CANOLA OIL under all circumstances (avoid vegetable oils like Crisco and Wesson), stick to Olive Oil and Coconut Oil
** Make your own healthy mayo recipe here, and make your healthy BBQ sauce recipe here
** SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY!!! ...on grass fed beef or Bison or pasture raised Turkey and Chicken, You can find them all at Whole Foods (I AVOID COMMERCIAL MEATS)
** AVOID COMMERCIAL CHEESE and dairy, use cheese from Grass Fed Cows
** Find Grass fed versions of Dairy (cream cheese, sour cream, butter, etc.) from companies such as Natural by Nature
** I am basically grain free, but with occasional bread, I try to find quality bread, an example of healthier buns with these ingredients
** I utilize papaya enzymes (I make my own capsules) to digest meats, wheat, and gluten
I don't eat like this regularly, but when the mood hits me, no reason not to enjoy an occasional sandwich, healthy and guilt free when I follow these rules :)

When I think about this movie, I see an interesting metaphor, applicable to all of us....
We all are often on the brink of launching out psychological nuclear missiles at others in stressful situations, at work and such, and we have to make that call to launch or not launch. But, as Denzel said in the movie, once you launch, you can never bring those missiles back, so we always have to be certain we are making the right move. And thus, it never hurts to take a step back and think......to avoid the "Big Explosion".
