…one nomad [myself] “non-vicariously” enjoying the travels of another nomad [Lee Litumbe]
I suppose, there was one positive thing that came out of the death of my mother this summer…..
…that being, although me and my brothers never had a great relationship, we forged a rock solid, and assumedly permanent bond, in the weeks before and after my mom's funeral.
So, I instantly connected with fellow "nomad", Lee Litumbe, and her family oriented article…..
……some of her photos I posted here, from Lee Litumbe's "Spirited Pursuit" Website
Lee's article and photos brought home the point I finally learned from this summer's unpleasantness stemming from my mother's death…
….that other than health, only one thing in this life really matters, and that is, "family".
I love Lee's Litumbe's candor and honesty in her article, when she makes the comment…….
"I hope you won't be misled by the rose colored glasses that can sometimes develop when viewing another's life through the skewed lens of the Internet. This is instead the testimony of a once insecure girl that has since shed those old skins and grown into her own. "
I have the same perspective about this "double edged sword" that is the Internet……
…..the key [for me] is to value my inner self, and my own life's journey, over the external things I see on the web.
But occasionally, on the web, when the opportunity presents itself……..
……something on the internet will inspire, provoke, and enhance my own personal "world view".
And I must confess, I am a sucker for a vibrant "photo shoot"
Looking back at the 3 months since mom's funeral, I realized it wasn't about death……..
…..but the celebration of mom's life, and all that it produced.
As well as the importance of the inter-connectivity of the lives in my family…..
…although growing up, me and my brothers never got along, now we all admit we finally see the light.
As for Lee Litumbe's "Garden Supper" article , a celebration of life and family, she said……..
"To celebrate, I knew I wanted to create an effervescent vibe for all those in attendance and infuse components of some of my favorite things like Cameroonian food, great wines, and a ridiculous amount of cheese."
Lee's photos and article gave me the perspective and inspirational message I needed, looking back on my life changing experiences this summer……
…..that life is a "Family Affair".
