I live in downtown Seattle, Washington, and when I saw this amazing photo shoot of this “out in the forest, by the lake” getaway in Gig Harbour Washington, I had no clue where that was.
But, after a little “Google Earth-ing”, I could see getting there would be one those mega-pleasant, Great Northwest rides a ways from Seattle, though all this amazing forest and mountain scenery.
I thought, “Damn, 2 things needed for a romantic weekend getaway to this cozy crib, is some fresh caught seafood from Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle, and a warm-hearted girl……
….then we’d do a “Prince and Appolonia, drive to Lake Minnetonka” kinda thing, crank out some seafood recipes, uncork some good wine, and just chill from the city madness all weekend.

And for you young folks……… Uh, see….Prince drove Appolonia on his bike through the forest to Lake Minnetonka in the movie Purple Rain, then uh……., he tricked her, then uh…..then she Jumped in………
……nevermind, just check out the video below, to get where I’m going with this yep 🙂

The Healthy Chef’s “healthy morsel”: Make sure you get wild caught shrimp because wild caught is low in mercury, but most shrimp is farmed and/or imported and often have high toxins. I was grain free for two years, but have lightened up a bit because I’ve learned gluten issues may actually be glyphosate pesticide they spray on non organic wheat, not the wheat itself.

…..about the crib
Nestled into a forested slope along the eastern edge of the Case Inlet, this small retreat opens to a western view of the Olympic Mountains and the Puget Sound.
Anchored by a weathered cedar clad bedroom wing, a bold concrete cantilever projects the living and dining into the forest and toward the view. An ipe deck slips from inside the kitchen into a meadow to the south, separated only by large sliding glass doors extending the sense of interior directly to the outdoors.
A broad flat roof hovers high above the living spaces creating the feeling that one is sitting outdoors amidst the trees.
Smaller, thoughtfully placed apertures define the exterior of the bedroom volume, along with a single large opening belonging to the master bath to give the users a ritual of bathing within the forest.
A balance of simple lines and rugged low maintenance materials, this modest retreat is a welcome sanctuary from the city
